This programme would originally take place Tuesday 20th of June 2023.

Today 90 million refugees are fleeing wars and 30.6 million refugees are displaced by climate disasters. A few of them are trying to cross the borders into European territories, especially Italy, Spain and Greece. An even lesser percentage of the refugees making it to Europe, finally make their way to the Netherlands where they are faced with systematic exclusion. The Ukraine war has shown that the Netherlands can help and house refugees and migrants with open arms, however, when it comes to non-Ukrainian refugees and migrants, we notice double standards. Amongst others, we see this in access to housing and rights to work. This World Refugee Day, we are going to discuss the developments in policy about housing of asylum seekers in the Netherlands and political shifts like the increased influence of BBB and LVV affect these policies.
